project of the century - Twelve from 20 th

(polyether resin, acryl 210 x 210 x 285 mm)
Marselle Duchamp
(Blenville, France, 1887-1968, Neyi, France)

Having drawn a moustache on Mona Lisa's portrait, he aggravated the sacrilege by writing an obscene inscription. As a genious of artistic scandal, the ideologist of the "Dada" movement, Duchin concentrated not on creating new things (pieces of art) but on establishing new attitudes toward them, relations with them, around them. He destroyed the distance between the spectator and the object by provoking direct contact.

Don’t reach museums – find the square,
The Market Scene!
You, herd, it’s all, because your flair
Is natural when art is seen,
When needlework is all what’s real for you,
The cloth, the egg and here the wheel,
Versailles and the reel,
The unity and beauty in the world of things.
A metamorphosis Death brings,
While the Styx is only a bayou.
