project of the century - Twelve from 20 th

(combination of coloured polyvinylchloride 210 x 210 x 285 mm)
Victor Vazareli
(Pech, Hungary, 1908-1997, USA)

The founder of op-art - the movement based on the principal of optical illusion, creating an "eye burn" and a special emotional effect. Studying and using the psychical basis of colour and its perception, he left the boundaries of painting behind. The social function of art was considered prevailing by a multitude of hidden dimensions and spaces.

To read the bilk
Is hazardous for eyes –
A scald!
Oh, Europe! Do you hear?!
The paints playing with
The dots and circles
Every time
Will keep all secrets private!
Bandage the knight-of-fortune’s eyes!
For real artist always hides!
